The fall high school showcase tournaments around the country has started. What is a high school showcase baseball tournament? A high school showcase tournament is a gathering of high school players from travel, high school, baseball academy, select and area scout teams. The showcases attract players from across the country to congregate and play against each other in front of college coaches and professional scouts. The showcases allow coaches and scouts to evaluate players from all regions at one time. Showcases tournament formats are pool play, typically 4-5 games and with some tournaments finishing in playoff formats to determine team championships or qualification for future tournaments. There are many high school showcase tournaments held across the country every month, some local, regional and national representation.

Here are high school tournaments Hawaii high school players have attended this fall.

PERFECT GAME/WORLD WOOD BAT - PG NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP in Tucson, Arizona Sept. 24-28, 2009. Hawaii players were on teams ABD Warriors '10. and ABD Warriors '11.

The ABD Warriors '11 underclass team coached by Kamehameha varsity baseball coach, Vern Ramie had players from Moanalua, Kailua, St. Louis, Kamehameha, Punahou, and Waimea HS on the team. The team finished with a 2-1 record in pool D and made it to the championship game, but lost to Cangelosi Baseball Academy from Aurora, IL 9-7.

The ABD Warriors '10 upperclass team coached by Kamehameha varsity baseball coach, Vern Ramie had players from Miliani, St. Louis, Kamehameha, Punahou, and Pearl City HS on the team. The team finished with a 1-2 record in pool F. The tournament was won by ABD Bulldogs from California beating SE Texas Sun Devils 8-6.

ARIZONA SENIOR FALL CLASSIC in Peoria, Arizona Oct. 15-18, 2009. Hawaii players will be on Team Hawaii, ABD Baseball Academy and Baseball Factory. The tournament is considered the premier high school showcase tournament in the western region for juniors and seniors.
